Why Did We Make the New Store So Complicated?
If all we wanted was to open another store, we probably would not have made things this complicated.
But after growing with DEOPUZ from our beginnings in Fortress Hill in 2021 to our new home on Pak Sha Road in Causeway Bay, we have learned that some things are worth getting right.
The new DEOPUZ Causeway Bay flagship store is more than a larger retail space.
It is somewhere we can properly showcase the silver jewellery we love, tell the stories behind the brands we work with, and give people a place to slow down and spend some time.
And honestly, getting here was not easy.
The First Thing That Nearly Drove Us Crazy Was the Brick Wall
One of the most distinctive features of the new DEOPUZ store is the brick wall.
It was also one of the parts of the project that caused us the most stress.
When the first version was completed, it simply did not look the way we had imagined.
Not “slightly different”.
It just felt wrong.
So we made the decision to tear it down and start again.
And then again.
The wall was rebuilt twice, with two different types of Japanese bricks carefully selected and rearranged to achieve the texture and character we were looking for.
Looking at the finished wall today, most people would probably never know how many times it was changed.
But perhaps that is exactly the point.
The details that feel effortless are often the ones that take the most work.
The Display Cabinets Went Through More Changes Than You Would Expect
When customers first walk into a new store, the first reaction might simply be:
“The new store looks great.”
But behind that impression are a lot of details that are easy to overlook.
How high should the display cabinets be?
Where should each piece sit?
Should the lighting be warmer or cooler?
How far should the seating be from the jewellery?
How low should the pendant lights hang?
Even the size and colour of the audio equipment went through several rounds of consideration.
Because we never wanted the new DEOPUZ flagship to feel like a space filled with jewellery and nothing else.
We wanted it to feel comfortable.
A place where you can actually take your time looking at a piece.
Why Did We Bring a drink vending machine here ?
We asked ourselves the same question more than once.
The answer is actually quite simple.
We just liked it.
We went to Japan to find a vintage drink vending machine for the store.
It is not a display cabinet.
It is not essential to selling silver jewellery.
It probably has no direct effect on a customer's buying decision.
But once it was in the space, the atmosphere changed.
It added something difficult to describe.
A little bit of old Hong Kong.
A little bit of Japan.
And a little bit of what DEOPUZ feels like to us.
There was, however, one small problem.
It weighs 145kg.
In the end, it took three strong men to get it upstairs.
Sometimes, when you are building a place you genuinely love, you end up doing things that make absolutely no practical sense.
And that is okay
Why Did We Make a Jewellery Store Where You Can Actually Sit Down?
Because we buy jewellery too.
We know that choosing a piece of silver jewellery is rarely an instant decision.
You might want to try the same ring twice.
Compare two different silver chains.
Ask how another ring looks on your hand.
Or simply wonder:
“Would this actually work with the clothes I wear?”
That is why the new store was never designed purely for quick transactions.
You can walk in.
Try something on.
Chat with us.
Compare different styles.
Or even leave without buying anything.
That is completely fine.
We believe silver jewellery deserves a little more time.
The weight, proportions, texture and details are all part of the experience.
Sometimes you need to see a piece under the light, put it on your hand, and live with the idea for a few minutes before you know whether it is right.
From Fortress Hill to Pak Sha Road
When DEOPUZ started in 2021, we had no idea where the journey would lead.
From our first store, we gradually discovered more brands, more designers and more forms of silver jewellery from Japan, the United States and beyond.
Along the way, there were plenty of moments when we were not entirely sure what would happen next.
But then a familiar customer would walk through the door again.
Someone would come back wearing a ring they bought from us years earlier.
A customer would bring a friend to the store.
And we would realise:
We have actually come a long way.
That is why the new flagship store means more to us than simply opening another location.
It represents something that many people have helped build together.

You do not need to come to the new store with the intention of buying something.
Come and look around.
Take a closer look at the Japanese brick wall.
Sit down for a while.
Try on a ring.
Compare different silver chain lengths.
Or take a look at the vintage Japan drink vending machine.
Sometimes, what people remember about a store is not what they bought.
It might simply be that they came in one afternoon.
Had a conversation with us.
Tried on a ring for the first time.
Or found a piece that felt like it belonged to them.
For us, those moments are enough.
The new DEOPUZ flagship store is not meant to be somewhere you rush through.
It is a place to discover silver jewellery at your own pace.
And hopefully, somewhere you will want to come back to.
