Faced with the recent surge in the price of silver bullion, and to overcome the current situation where people hesitate to purchase items due to their high cost, we collaborated with overseas partner factories and, after numerous prototypes, arrived at this new material: ‘Silver Plating (White Copper)’.

The base material is ‘nickel silver’, renowned for its excellent corrosion resistance and used in high-end cutlery and coins. This is then coated with a thick layer of SV925 (sterling silver). The finish is achieved through an ‘ibushi’ treatment, which adds depth to the texture, followed by hand-polishing by skilled craftsmen to bring out a rich lustre. Although the material has changed, the ‘effort’ involved in production remains the same as for traditional silver products.

By using white copper, which has a similar specific gravity, the weight difference compared to silver is a mere 7%. The satisfying heft felt the moment you pick it up and the distinct presence as it sways at your waist are indistinguishable from the real thing. Furthermore, thanks to the thick silver plating, you can enjoy a gradual and beautiful ageing process that deepens with use.
